Something Fun
I'm just playing now. What a goof.I made this little thing, I hope you like it. If you want to show the world you're proud to be part of the new NurseBlog community (without filling out silly forms, and giving up your personal information) then you can put up this button I made tonight (rather than doing homework).
Just cut and paste this bit of code into your template:
<a href="http://mediblogopathy.blogspot.com"><img src="http://www.geocities.com/neverlost_seattle/NurseBlogsTiny.gif"></a>
If you don't like it, and you don't want to use it, don't worry about it - you'll still have a link here.
Something Else:
I wanted to let anyone reading know that I also will be adding a few links to blogs written by nurses that don't talk about work much at all. They're just our friends, co-workers, fellow nurses who like to show what they do for fun and talk about their families (both human and non-human). Don't think you've always got to be on-topic about nursing - heck, I don't even do that! Let me know if you agree. Maybe at some point I'll divide up the blogs into categories of work and personal, but right now there are only a couple that never talk shop. Besides, it took me a while to get these in order....
Kelly, at 9:00 PM
Yay! Thanks for the link. And I love the tag; I think I'll try it.
Anonymous, at 11:31 PM
Fabulous! What a great blog and contribution to the nursing blog community. Thanks for the link, too. I have reciprocated.
Nurse2B, at 6:56 AM
Excellent list of blog links, I LOVE your blog! I have added your tag to my page. Thanks for the intro to all the great nurses blogging out there.
Keith "Nurse Keith" Carlson, RN, BSN, NC-BC, at 8:00 PM
My blog mentions nursing frequently but it is also very personal. I first thought of having a "work" blog and a "personal" blog, but I have managed to mold the two together. Some people might find that disingenuous if they are looking specifically for "shop talk", but I like to define myself by more than just my nurse-ness.
Thanks for doing this for all of us nurse bloggers!
Keith
HypnoKitten, at 8:16 PM
kelly - I'm glad you like the tag. I enjoy messing aound in photoshop, and I figured that wouldn't be too hard. The toughest part was that I should have been typing up my Client Care Sheet! Ack! Good thing it's already done and just needs to be typed...
seyms - I appreciate the link back, and let me know about any more nursebloggers you find over on your end.
nurse2b - My heart just swelled with pride when I went to your site and saw the little tag. It was the first time I saw it on anyone elses blog. I thought "wow, I made that" and it felt pretty dang cool. :) Thanks!
Keith - Write about whatever you like, I think a healthy balance is good. We aren't just the work (although sometimes when working and school it may feel that way!)

I would be honored to wear the NurseBlogs tag on my website. Thanks.

genderist, at 5:33 PM
RN that's not always posting topically to RN-ness. Keep me posted if you put together a page of nurses who don't always talk shop.
Anonymous, at 11:04 AM
I've added your link to my fledgling blog. I really like the idea of a community of nurses on the internet. Thanks!

Cheryl, at 11:09 PM
Hi, just found you tonight and don't have time to read it all because work beckons again on the 'morrow. I hope you don't mind if I steal your tag for my (mostly) non-nursing blog. I'm kind of making the opposite journey of nurse2b and looking into a career in nursing informatics. I guess the grass is always greener.
I look forward to discovering more blogging nurses out there. Great idea!

Hi there. LOVE your blog! So many interesting and helpful links. Too bad I discovered them AFTER I wrote my anatomy exam today! :-(
I was just wondering if you would mind allowing me to join your blogging world as a fellow nursing student from Ontario. My blog is not as exciting as the many others mentioned here, and tends to be more on the personal side, but it would be an honour to join you all.
Thanks :-)

Quest for an interesting life, at 8:58 AM
I think all Nurse blogs should include how overworked and underpaid we are. Twelve patients are too many and in my city we nurses are worked to exhaustion. Many of the nurses quit shortly after entering the hospital workforce and pursue something else. Alot needs to change in nursing. If nursing were a male dominated profession it would not be as unfair as it is and the wages would be better. Once you reach your hospital's wage top out you are screwed. Imagine no raise for the rest of your career even though the cost of living increases. That is the reality of nursing. Despite all that I still work as a nurse because it is all I know.

What an awesome site girl!!!!!
I adore the little tag too, it's going on my blog as soon as I write this!!
I am a nurse of 16 years and also write a blog on my battle with Chronic Pain. My site does include that nursing word now and then, but I focus on Chonic Pain, CI, (Chronic Illnesses), also hidden illnesses which so many must live with on the inside, yet on the outside, well, it's what I hear often when I tell my story to others: "But You LOOK Good!" I strive to connect with others in this situation and tips that have worked for me to just try and live with your illness/disease the best you know how, take care of yourself the best you can, and a few posts on just how my day went. (That's the FUN THINGS part of the title)in: "Shauna's Life in Pain and Other Fun Things".....
I'd be honored to be one of your blogs my fellow angel. (My word for us nursie gals and guys!)
Peace!
