The New Pup
But he is SO out of control.
We got him from a shelter - he's a 2 year old Australian Shepherd who had been kept tied out on a very short rope by his previous owners (completely untrained, never housebroken...) The Humane Society evidently asked the owners to give him up because of the mistreatment.
We've trained him to sit and lie down so far, and he loves to catch a frisbee - but only rarely brings it back. He's got a LONG way to go and right now he's such a handful, but he's so smart it's amazing. And what a total cutie!!

I had two Australian Sheperds as a child. They are one of my favorite dogs. They are smart, sweet, loyal, and loving!!
My dog used to cover his eyes with his paws if he got embarrassed...
Good luck with the training! He is adorable, and going to make a great companion!

Cutie? Can't argue with that...especially the picture with the one ear up and one down. Good for you for adopting. I've volunteered for an animal rescue forever, and a big hug to everyone who chooses to adopt an unwanted pet rather than buy a purebreed. Plus, now there is room at the shelter for someone elses future best friend!

Congrats on getting a rescue dog. I find that they make the best pets because they know how lucky they are and are grateful for every little thing you do for them..

We lost our 13.5 y.o Aussie girl four weeks ago. I miss her so much.
Your guy looks like mischief, but in a sweet way. Congratulations on your new buddy!

He's learning so much each day and he's so sweet and loving. He loves to cuddle, and he'd do it all day if I'd let him on the sofa!
